Helpful Tips from Delivery Owls
From returns and parcel packing to sending luggage ahead of your trip, here are a few simple tips to help make things easier, safer and more convenient.
1. Pack returns securely
If you are returning an item, make sure it is packed properly to help prevent damage in transit. Use the original packaging where possible, or a strong alternative if the original box is no longer suitable. Seal the parcel well and make sure the item is protected inside.
Tip: Need a hand? We can print your return label and package your item securely for you. Fees apply.
3. Check your label before sending
Always check that your label is correct, readable and attached properly. If a label is blurry, damaged, loose or placed over a seam, it may not scan correctly.
Tip: Tape labels down flat and make sure all key details and barcodes are clearly visible.
5. Don’t leave returns until the last minute
Return windows can close faster than expected, especially if you are travelling, busy or waiting for multiple items to arrive. Leaving returns too late can mean missing the retailer’s deadline.
Tip: If in doubt, sort your return sooner rather than later.
7. Include your full name on incoming deliveries
If you are sending parcels to Delivery Owls for collection or delivery, always make sure your full name is included clearly on the shipment. This helps us identify your parcel quickly and contact you without delay.
Tip: Use the same name you gave us when arranging the booking.
9. Send luggage or parcels ahead of your arrival
Sending luggage or holiday parcels ahead can make travelling much easier. It can save space in the car, avoid hauling extra cases around, and help you arrive with everything already waiting for you.
Tip: This works especially well for families, second-home owners and longer stays.
11. Label luggage clearly
If you are sending luggage, make sure each case or box is clearly labelled with your name, contact details and any reference we have given you. Clear labelling helps avoid confusion and speeds up collection or delivery.
Tip: It is also wise to place your contact details inside the luggage as a backup.
13. Leave enough time before you travel
If you are sending parcels or luggage ahead of arrival, always allow enough time for transit, delays and processing. Do not leave it until the last minute, especially during busy travel periods.
Tip: Sending a little earlier gives peace of mind.
15. Ask if you need help
Not sure how to pack something, print a label, send luggage, prepare a return or arrange delivery? Ask us. It is always better to check first than risk delays, damaged parcels or extra costs.
Tip: We are here to make the process simpler.
2. Remove old labels and barcodes
Before sending or returning a parcel, always remove or fully cover any old shipping labels and barcodes. If more than one label is visible, the courier may scan the wrong one, which can cause delays or misrouting.
Tip: Make sure only the current shipping label is clearly visible.
4. Keep proof of postage or return
Whenever you send a parcel or return an item, keep your receipt, tracking number or proof of postage until the journey is complete. This can be very important if the retailer or courier asks for evidence.
Tip: A quick photo of the label and receipt can be very useful.
6. Use strong packaging for fragile items
Fragile items need extra protection. Bubble wrap, padding and a sturdy outer box can help reduce the risk of damage in transit.
Tip: If the contents can move around inside the parcel, it usually needs more padding.
8. Check parcel size and weight before sending
Couriers often have size and weight limits, especially for returns and international shipments. Sending something over the allowed limit can result in delays, extra charges or rejection.
Tip: If you are unsure, ask us before sending and we will guide you.
10. Let us know your expected arrival date
If you are sending luggage or parcels ahead of arriving in Marbella, let us know your expected arrival date in advance. This helps us plan storage, collection or delivery at the right time and makes the process smoother for you.
Tip: The more information you give us, the easier we can make it.
12. Don’t pack prohibited or valuable items carelessly
When sending luggage or parcels ahead, avoid including anything restricted, highly fragile, very valuable or irreplaceable unless it is packed and declared appropriately. Different couriers have different rules.
Tip: If you are unsure whether something is suitable to send, check with us first.
14. Group items together where possible
If you are ordering multiple items before arriving, it can often be easier to have everything sent to one place and collected or delivered together rather than managing lots of separate shipments.
Tip: Consolidating items can save time and make arrival day much easier.
